    Paul Ritchie

    Founder & Principal Prior to the formation of The Ritchie Group, Paul was the CFO of Ritchie Enterprises, a second generation family partnership that specializes in real estate investments, development of real estate, private equity and angel funding. Paul has substantial experience in real estate and private equity transactions, where he has developed proficiencies in sourcing deals, performing due diligence, securing debt and equity funding, financial modeling/forecasting, capital relationships, investor relationship and financial reporting, and securing and executing exit options for various partnerships. On behalf of TRG, Paul sits on several boards of the companies which have included Ambre Energy Limited – a A$400MM Australian Energy and Resource-based company – and as a Director of Craftsman Kitchen & Bath – a high end cabinet manufacturing company. Paul is a graduate of Brigham Young University (BYU), where he earned a Master of Business Administration (finance emphasis) and BA in International Relations, cum laude.
  • Ryan Ritchie

    Ryan Ritchie

    Founder & Principal Ryan J. Ritchie is a Co-Founder of The Ritchie Group and one of its Principals. Ryan’s strengths include deal sourcing, performing site specific due diligence, securing project entitlements, product development ( matching product to a site then assessing its market viability), construction mgt., on site sales and marketing, negotiating contracts and legal documents, and providing project management. Ryan has a passion for creating great real estate. While living in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, he managed all aspects of The Carolina Club, a golf and marina community, where his duties included construction of amenities and of finished lots to the sales and marketing of the same lots. From April 2004-November 2007, Ryan was President of Poipu Beach Villas, LLC, and directed and coordinated the many acquisition, entitlement and pre-construction facets of Koloa Landing at Poipu Beach, a Wyndham Grand Resort (Kaua’i). Ryan continues to serve on the Board for Poipu Beach Villas, LLC. The first phase (85 units) of this $500 M luxury condominium resort was completed in 2010. Ryan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University (BYU).

    Rob Heywood

    Founder & Principal Prior to joining The Ritchie Group, Rob served as a Vice President of Ritchie Enterprises and managed several single family residential developments from acquisition to exit. Rob’s real estate matriculation has included the purchase, rehabilitation and sale of distressed properties, the entitlement of nearly 1,000 single family building lots, management of a substantial portfolio of commercial properties, and project manager of a 46-acre industrial park near the Salt Lake International Airport. Rob received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Brigham Young University.

    Jayson Newitt

    Founder & Principal Jayson Newitt plays a key management role in the TRG team. His unique blend of experience from a diverse background in construction management, world-class hospitality training, and nationwide development of healthcare properties has qualified Jayson to make critical contributions to TRG’s development team. Prior to joining TRG, Jayson was a partner with The Boyer Company in their medical real estate division. His responsibilities included managing deal structure, entitlement, leasing, financing, design, and construction activities of surgical hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, and medical office buildings. Jayson has directly managed 13 projects in 11 states with a combined development budget of approximately ~$60 million. After graduating with a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Brigham Young University (BYU), Jayson worked for two-years in Washington, D.C., for Marriott International where he participated in a Leadership Development Program with corporate rotational assignments in finance, architecture and construction, resort strategy, and brand management.
  • Dean Clark

    Dean Clark

    Principal & Controller Dean serves as The Ritchie Group’s controller and the Director of Information Systems. Prior to joining TRG, Dean Clark worked as an accountant performing audits in the construction industry. Prior to his involvement at the CPA firm Dean was the Controller and CFO for Hyperbaric Medicine Group, which constructed and operated hyperbaric clinics. He also served as the CFO of Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he oversaw the companies start-up development, financial operations, cash management, purchasing, information systems, and developed company pro formas and financial forecasting analysis. Dean also served as the Controller and Director of Information Systems for ASC Group, a firm that constructed and operated surgical hospitals throughout the country. Dean received his undergraduate degree and a Masters in Business Administration from Brigham Young University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
  • Corey Berg

    Corey Berg

    Principal Corey is the managing partner for the 7Revolutions Fund, an emerging energy technology fund in partnership with the University of Utah created to commercialize energy technology. Prior to joining The Ritchie Group, Corey was a Director with The Structure Group, an industry leader in consulting services and business solutions for energy market participants. In his 10+ years of energy industry experience, he focused on assisting market participants with preparing their people processes and systems for the major changes in the energy markets. His responsibilities included, account management, sales, contracting, project management, system implementation, software design, and consulting. In addition, Corey has managed the Timp Investment Fund for the last 7 years, a Fund that focuses on energy, real estate and software investments. After graduating from Brigham Young University with a BS in Accounting, Corey worked for Andersen in their economic and financial consulting group in San Francisco where he worked on financial modeling and business valuation.
  • Brett McDonough

    Brett McDonough

    Principal Brett is involved in various areas of both accounting and finance on a project specific basis as well as company wide. Brett currently manages Brickyard Towers, a commercial office building in which Brett has assumed the role for project accounting and primary property management responsibilities for the 100,000 square foot, $12 million dollar, 25+/- tenant commercial office building. Before joining The Ritchie Group in 2008, Brett owned and operated ANB Properties, a residential management company suited to assist developers building PUD communities throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Brett managed the general oversight of all construction practices and project logistics associated with planning, building, and project completion. Brett received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from the University of Utah.

    James W. Ritchie

    Founder, Ritchie Enterprises Jim is the founder of Ritchie Enterprises, a family limited partnership formed in 1973. The consummate entrepreneur, Jim built, owned, and managed several successful businesses including a Chevrolet dealership, hotels, restaurants, and distributorships. After a brief elective early retirement to perform civic and church service, Jim returned to Utah in 1989. He joined Franklin International Institute, Inc. (now FranklinCovey) as its Senior Vice President of Sales and Training. He led a department of over 300 sales executives, trainers, and other personnel. When Jim left Franklin in 1994, the company had gone public and had a CAP value of over $1 billion. Jim received his Bachelor of Science in accounting from Brigham Young University and performed graduate studies at the University of Utah and at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). The Ritchie Group, L.C, now carries on the day-to-day activities of managing past real estate and investment ventures of Ritchie Enterprises.
  • Scott Laneri

    Scott Laneri

    Associate Scott works in a variety of different areas, including project finance, management, and accounting. He assists with pro forma modeling and project analysis, and, on several projects, he has been the primary interface with lenders and their agents for all construction draw processing, lender reporting, and lender compliance. Scott was the assistant project manager of Element 31, a 208 unit Class A multifamily project, and the first phase of Midtown 360, a 286 unit Class A mixed-use project. He is currently involved with the project management of The Rivulet and the second phase of Midtown 360. He has been influential in resolving and working through a myriad of tasks of all levels of importance for those projects. He graduated with an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University.
